It is the only way to export my entire Xanga to my own personal archives. I thought it was worth $4. Anyone know what else I can to do with premium that might be cool? Well, I only have it for one month.

I'll be re-importing my Xanga posts on Blogspot. If you have been wondering, yes my academic plans changed pretty dramatically from when I first came to Austin. I am now studying Linguistics. Whenever someone asks me, "Why do you want to study Linguistics? What languages do you know? Do you want to be a speech therapist or a linguist?" I don't really know what to say to them. I just think languages and people groups and the way we learn and communicate are all incredible phenomena. Like, in the beginning was...the Word. Language seems to me to be very important to God. He reveals who He is to humanity through a particular language, people group, culture and time period in history. It's significant. So, the idea of language itself, and the in's and out's of how it's structured and what it does within our brains, is what I want to study.

And after that, we'll see what else I want to study/pursue/do as a job. My ultimate vision/dream in life - for now as well as the future - hasn't changed...just the school part.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

For some reason, I think I look my best when I am getting ready to go to bed. I've thought this for a long time, I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it is the fact that I have had all day to get my blood flowing and my hair gets a little volume from doing things throughout the day to shape it or whatever. I'm no expert in beauty things, I just think I look awesome right before bed. Even if I'm putting facial stuff on and there are little dots of opaque white crap all over my face, I still think I look absolutely ravishing - a total boy-magnet...I should not be allowed to be seen like this...

Well, I'm going to sleep now :)

Monday, May 12, 2008

I don't have much to say...

Except that I ended my 5 years of being at Teen Mania a little early and moved to Austin and am now busy working on organizing 4 generations of stuff in my aunt's garage. And next weekend I'm going to California to shoot a wedding. And other things.

But really not much. Not because I haven't been philosophically stimulated lately (I have, wow!) but this is just a quickie.

I will say this - have you ever wondered what the knowledge of good and evil really means? And like, how can it be knowledge if it actually causes us to be blind to our own sin? I had a discussion tonight that made me think of a potential answer to this question.

My Encounters with Cops

In East Texas you can get pulled over or stopped by the police for just about anything. For looking funny. For being up late. You don't ever want to commit actual violations, like speeding or not coming to a complete stop or not updating your inspection tags. It's over if they catch you.

Tonight I was going for a walk and a cop pulled up behind me. He said, "Excuse me, Ma'am." I walked over to him and he said, "I'm going to ask you a sort of strange question."

"Okay.."

"Were you by chance looking in anyone's mailboxes down on Cooper St?"

"Umm......no, Sir."

"Well we got a call saying that someone from your description [he proceeds to describe exactly what I was wearing] was walking down on Cooper St. looking in people's mail boxes." I told him that I live right by Cooper St. but that I had done nothing of the sort. We both sort of awkwardly scratched out heads for a minute. I had no ID, just my Bible. "Oh, gonna do some Bible study?" he says. Ha ha...uhh, I guess. (He was a nice guy).

So he's writing down my name and it hits me - "Oh! I looked in my own mailbox while I was walking by! But since I didn't want to carry it with me I just put my mail back."

How paranoid do your neighbors have to be to call the police when they see you put mail back into the mailbox?

Ridiculous.

Monday, February 11, 2008

I have a really cool story.

For the last two months I've been all excited about Over the Rhine coming to Dallas this weekend. However, my excitement didn't translate into me buying tickets ahead of time. When I called Ticketmaster on Thursday to find out why it wouldn't let me place an order and they told me it was sold out, I was pretty heartbroken.

In my determination I decided to go to Dallas anyways, to see if anyone would be selling their tickets. My room mates came down with me for moral support. To make a long story short, no one was selling tickets and I gave up hope. We were walking around downtown after having dinner and Meredith had to go to the restroom. I said, "There's McDonald's..." and Liz suggested we go to this hotel's lobby we were right next to.

As we're walking in I see a tall man with shaggy dark brown hair and thick-rimmed glasses that I somehow recognized. Eerily recognized. Like..."No way..." recognized. Then I see who he's with in the lobby, a woman with long blonde hair, and they're carrying suitcases and equipment from a trailer/van outside.

It was Over the Rhine. We had walked into their hotel without even knowing. And it was just us and them in the lobby!

I knew I couldn't ignore all the strings the universe had pulled to bring this perfect moment to me, so as cheesy as I knew I was going to sound, I said, "Hey, I'm a big fan." So he asked if we were coming to the show and we told him it was sold out. He said, "Well, we should just put you on the guest list!"

So he put all of our names down on the guest list and we got in FOR FREE!

It was by far the best show I've ever been to. I think my love language is surprises, this was a beautiful little surprise gift from God to me.

I appreciate it so much, God.

Saturday, February 02, 2008

"You could get dinner for two at McDonalds....or you could go see this movie.
